According to Variety.com Suicide Squad director David Ayer has left the Scarface remake. Ayer was set to replace Antonie Fuqua who was originally set to direct the Scarface remake but left due to scheduling conflicts. It seems David Ayer is following suit because he also stated that he would have to leave the film due to it conflicting with his upcoming Netflix film Bright. Ayer confirmed his departure from the Scarface remake with the following Tweet from his verified Twitter account.

However other media outlets are reporting that Universal thought that Ayer's vision for the film was way to dark for there taste. Which in our humble opinion would make sense with the tone that this remake is going for. The Scarface remake will follow an immigrant played by Rogue One actor Diego Luna who struggles to find his way out of Mexico to make it America where he makes it big in the underground crime world. Again this our opinion but that subject matter warrants a film with a "dark" tone... None the less Scarface is still slated to hit theaters on August 10, 2018
