TNT Still Has Hope For The Tales From The Crypt Reboot

Last year

it was announced that TNT would be reviving the iconic 90s HBO horror anthology show Tales From The Crypt. The series was going to be produced by Split and the sixth sense director M.Night Shyamalan.

That was until TNT encountered some rights issues with the Tales From The Crypt property.

Those issues led to TNT officially putting the show on hold.

Unfortunately the show hasn't made much progress since then. In a recent interview with Deadline.com TNT boss Kevin Reilly said the following regarding the state of the Tales From The Crypt reboot.

"It’s been fun with lawyers, it’s been really fun. We did not know from the get-go or else we would not have announced it and made a big deal out of it. But in fact there were rights. It is among the most — if not the most — complicated rights structure I’ve ever seen in my career, and we had no idea as we got into it. It became a nightmare. So we said, ‘Fine.’ If and when this gets cleaned up, we’ll revisit.”

Granted this may not be exactly the new fans of the upcoming reboot were hoping for. However if you read the last part of Reilly's quote he does say he and TNT plan on revisiting the series. If and when those pesky rights issues get taken care of. The only question now is if the excitement fans had for the reboot will still be there when TNT settles the legal side of things.
