Ed Skrein Exits Hellboy Reboot Over White Was Controversy

Actor Ed Skrein the actor who played Frances in Deadpool. Has decided to exit the Hellboy reboot after receiving a massive backlash from fans of the series. Skrein was set to portray an Asian character named Major Ben Daimio. As soon as it was announced Skrein would be playing Major Ben Daimio fans accused the Hellboy reboot of white washing the character. Apparently Skrein caught wind of the outcry and has now decided to exit the film he posted the following statement via his official Twitter account.
Producers Larry Gordon, Lloyd Levin, Millennium and Lionsgate also released a statement supporting Ed Skrein's decision to leave the
"Ed came to us and felt very strongly about this. We fully support his unselfish decision. It was not our intent to be insensitive to issues of authenticity and ethnicity, and we will look to recast the part with an actor more consistent with the character in the source material." film.
Currently there is no actor set to replace Skrein as Major Ben Daimio. But seeing how fast these reboots and remakes move we should get news on his replacement soon. Currently set to star in the Hellboy reboot is Stranger Things actor David Harbour who play the Demonic anti-hero Hellboy. Joining him is Resident Evil actress Mila Jovovich who play the films villain The Blood Queen. Directing the film is Game Of Thrones director Neil Marshall.
