Will Smith Announces Aladdin Filming

Early today The Fresh Prince himself took to Facebook to announce the live action Aladdin movie has begun filming. Smith posted a picture of himself and Naomi Scott(Jasmine), Mena Massoud (Aladdin) and Marwan Kenzari(Jafar). With the caption "We just started shooting Aladdin and I wanted to intro you guys to our new family… Mena Massoud/Aladdin, Naomi Scott/Princess Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari/Jafar, and I’m over here gettin my Genie on. Here we go!"

It goes without saying Will Smith has some huge Genie pants to fill! The role of Genie was originally voiced by the very talented Robin Williams (Rip). However judging Smith's current film status he's on quite the bit of a hot streak. Whether you loved or hated Suicide Squad you have to admit Smith was very good in that film. Not to mention big Willy has proven time and time again that he can pretty much play whatever role he is given.

Sherlock Holmes director Guy Ritchie is set to direct Aladdin. Aladdin currently has no release date but seeing as the film has already started filming. Its more likely we will see this film hit theaters late 2018 or possibly early 2019.
