Earlier this year Disney announced that they would be unveiling there very own streaming app sometime during 2019. The app is said to showcase there full film library the same as Netflix. Disney also announced that they would be pulling all of there films from Netflix's library in 2019 and making them available on there upcoming streaming service. However there was a rumored deal between Netflix and Disney that would allow Netflix to still stream the Star Wars and Marvel films. After Disney's app is available.
Now it seems like that deal was exactly what we initially thought it was.... a rumor!

According to Disney CEO Bob Iger all Star Wars and Marvel films will also be taken off Netflix as of 2019. Iger made the announcement earlier today during a Q & A session at the Bank of America Merril Lynch Media, Communications and Entertainment Conference. Iger confirmed the decision with a simple statement.
“We’ve now decided we will put the Marvel and Star Wars movie on this app as well.”

This decision comes as no shock, it makes financial sense that Disney would want all of there film properties on there app. Including there insanely popular Marvel and Star Wars films. The only question now is well people leave Netflix for the Disney streaming app once it's up and running? Or will Netflix's original content like Stranger Things, Bojack Horsmen and OITNB still have people coming back to the streaming originator? Another concern people may have is will the unveiling of Disney's streaming app lead to the streaming market being over saturated?
Disney's streaming app leaves us with many unanswered questions. But like we always say here on Otherworldly News "we will just have to wait and see".
