Kingsman: The Golden Circle actor Taron Egerton has been cast as Robin Hood in the upcoming remake of the classic Robin Hood story. The film will be directed by Peaky Blinders director Otto Bathurst and will also star Jamie Foxx as Little John and 50 shades actor James Dorian as Will Scarlet. According to the films star Taron Egerton the Robin Hood remake is going to be a "21st century" take on the Robin Hood character and mythos. Egerton sat down with the film news website ScreenRant.Com and further explained how this remake of Robin Hood will differ than the other Robin Hood films.
“I think it will be less self-reverential than the Robin Hoods that have come before. I think the problem with Robin Hood sometimes is that… I love the Kevin Costner one and I think there were some great moments in the Russell Crowe one as well, but they’re very, very, very ‘Robin Hood-y’. Ours is less Robin Hood-y. It’s grittier, it’s darker, it’s a Robin Hood for the 21st Century. If you’ve seen Peaky Blinders, you’ll know something of the tone of it as it’s the same director.”

Judging from the actors statement the film is going to attempt to cut out some of the "boring" parts of the Robin Hood story. Or at least that's what we gathered from the term "Robin Hood-y". Taron Egerton's Robin Hood will hit theaters on September 21st 2018.
