Amazon Orders Multi- Season Lord Of The Rings Series

Amazon has announced that they have picked up the popular Lord Of The Rings series. Amazon announced earlier today that they would be picking up the popular franchise for multiple seasons. However the show will take place many years before Peter Jackson's trilogy. And will feature all new characters and a new story line that takes audiences further into the world of LOTR. A representive for the Tolkien estate had the following to say about the Amazon series.

"We are delighted that Amazon, with its longstanding commitment to literature, is the home of the first-ever multi-season television series for The Lord of the Rings,” The representative continued “Sharon and the team at Amazon Studios have exceptional ideas to bring to the screen previously unexplored stories based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s original writings.”

There's currently no release date or cast announced for the LOTR series but it will stream on Amazon prime in the very near future.
