Yesterday it was announced that one of this years breakout horror films Get Out will be apart of the 2018 Golden Globes. However the "horror" film was categorized as a comedy due to what we can only assume is it being written by comedic actor Jordan Peele. This made us realize that horror films are for the most part shunned from Hollywood. It seems as if every other genre but horror gets its day in the sun so to speak. It's surprising to us that arguably the most popular of all the film genres continues to get overlooked time after time.

2017 alone has proven that the horror genre deserves to be recognized by the academy. With films like IT and Get Out and not to mention countless classic horror films that have gone overlooked by the film academy during award season. Horror films for the most part seem to be getting better and better not to mention the ground breaking and unique films being made oversees.

It honestly a shame that Hollywood and the academy refuses to acknowledge the amazing work being made in the horror community. Not to mention the countless directors that are being overlooked simply because they do not make your traditional films. In our humble opinion Horror films are and will always be the most creative and interesting films being made.

Hopefully soon the academy and Hollywood will give Horror it's proper praise.
