Son Of Shaft Movie In The Works

It has just been announced that the 2000 remake of Shaft starring Samuel L Jackson is getting a sequel. The film is going to be titled "Son Of Shaft" and will follow Jessie T Usher's character (Independence Day Resurgence) who is a young FBI security expert. That has to team up with his father (Samuel L Jackson) who is actually the nephew of the original shaft to solve a case. The film will also star Richard Roundtree who is the original actor that portrayed the Shaft character in the 1970s film series. Rounding out the cast of Son Of Shaft is X-Men Apocalypse actress Alexandra Shipp, Shipp will play the female lead in the film as well as Usher's love interest.

Set to direct Son Of Shaft is Tim Story, Story directed the Kevin Hart and Ice Cube buddy cop comedy Ride Along. Story seems like a perfect choice to direct this film seeing as Son Of Shaft seems to be a buddy cop film between a father (Jackson) and son (usher). Son Of Shaft currently has no release date but judging from how quickly the cast and director assembled it won't be to long until we hear news of a official release date.
