Disney's Live Action Mulan Finds Its Lead Actress

It has just been announced that Chinese actor Liu Yifei will star in director Niki Caro and Disney’s live-action Mulan film. For those of you unaware Mulan tells the story of a young Chinese woman by the name of Mulan who posed as fer father in order to take his place in the national army in fifth-century China.
American audiences may be unfamiliar with Liu Yifei as she as only starred in one American movie where she played the role of " Golden Sparrow" in the Jackie Chan and Jet Li film Forbidden Kingdom. However Yifei has starred in numerous Chinese films such as IP-Man3 and Outcast.
The decision to cast Liu Yifei as Mulan gives the film the credibility it so desperately needed. After it was uncovered that in the initial script draft for the film revolved around Mulan joining forces with a white merchant on her adventure.
